Congratulations on the birth of your child. We know that this a special time for you and your family and we are delighted that you are considering Baptism in the Catholic Church. We, like you, believe that the Sacrament of Baptism is a decision for the lifetime of your child. We support you in your decision by providing a Baptism Preparation Programme.
The process begins with a parent/s making contact with the Parish Office, with a view to attending an Information Meeting. These meetings take place once a month in the Church.
Following the meeting, parents can arrange a date for Baptism through the Parish Office. No other arrangements, for example flights or hotels, should be made until the date for Baptism has been finalised.
Our Baptism Team, made up of parents, facilitate a Preparation Meeting shortly before the Baptism to explain what will happen on the day and to invite participation by families in the Ceremony.
For a number reasons, children may not have received the Sacrament of Baptism as infants. Parents are asked to contact Niamh, our Parish Pastoral Worker, through the Parish Office who will meet and assist them in such situations.
Adults who would like to be baptised into the Catholic Church are required to take part in a program of preparation. For more information, please contact Niamh, our Parish Pastoral Worker, through the Parish Office.
